Chipping Norton Stakes: Anamoe continues strong start to autumn preparation with another Group 1 victory

Anamoe has continued a strong start to his autumn preparation, taking out the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes at Royal Randwick.

The four-year-old Godolphin superstar took out the Group 2 Apollo Stakes a fortnight ago and was impressive once again on Saturday, bolting home to defeat the likes of Mo’unga, Fangirl and Hinged by over a length at the 1600m trip.

Anamoe was a $1.60 favourite with TAB among the strong field and proved exactly why, continuing a stellar rise that already includes a Cox Plate and claiming an eighth career Group 1.

Earlier on the card at Randwick, short-priced favourite In Secret was defeated in a nail-biting four-way finish by Sunshine In Paris

The highly-rated three-year-old filly ran third but continued a strong preparation after claiming the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes earlier in February, and looks set to feature in a number of feature races throughout the autumn carnival.

Sunshine In Paris got the bob at $10 odds with TAB – a first Group 1 triumph in just her fifth career start – after a late dash to the line and a quality steer from Ryan Maloney.

Saturday was also the final raceday in the career of jockey Glyn Schofield, with the 56-year-old retiring after a 22-year career that included 18 Group 1 victories.

Down in Victoria, Little Brose took out the G1 2YO Blue Diamond Stakes at Sandown.
