Vision shows the two exchanged words before Green approached Poole. The guard then shoved the four-time champion, who threw a punch with plenty of force that connected with Poole’s face, knocking him against the wall.

According to ESPN, the Warriors will take “every legal course of action” to find out how the footage was leaked and are “aggressively investigating” both the incident and release of the video.

“Yesterday wasn’t a good moment,” General manager Bob Myers told The Athletic.

“That’s the bottom line. It wasn’t. There’s people in life that make mistakes, and don’t apologise or don’t earn your trust back. He always does that. I don’t think he likes putting himself in these spots. He’s in one. And I think he’ll find a way to earn the respect of his teammates and Jordan back. But that’s the work he has to do.”

The fiery Green, a four-time NBA champion and four-time All-Star, has long been considered the emotional leader of the Warriors. He’s been willing to get into it with his teammates when he feels it’s appropriate. There is a “tough love” element to every team, Myers said, noting “Draymond is absolutely a leader on this team.”

“It’ll take some time to move through, but we’ll move through it and move forward and I’m confident that we will, Myers told reporters during the week.

“We’ve got a good team, we’ve got good leadership, we’ve got some guys that have been here a long time.”

Myers said the altercation was not a by-product of looming contract situations for both players and wasn’t about “who’s getting paid and who isn’t.”

Poole’s representatives are in discussions with Myers about a contract extension ahead of the Oct. 17 deadline, one day before the defending NBA champions open the season at home against the Lakers.
